Counselling and Psychotherapy for
Adults, Children and Young People
Karen+Spooner+profile.jpg

I’m Karen Spooner, a soon to be qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling in Hayle and Camborne, Cornwall, as well as online and telephone sessions across the UK, offering flexibility to access support in a way that feels most comfortable for you. More details on my qualification and background can be found here

You might be looking for a space where you can talk openly, at your own pace, without pressure or expectation. A space where you feel listened to, understood, and accepted as you are.

I offer counselling for adults, children and young people, with a focus on creating a calm, supportive and confidential environment.

My work is grounded in a person-centred approach, with integrative and creative ways of working that we can gently shape around you and your individual needs.

We can work in a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming way, recognising that everyone experiences and makes sense of the world differently.

This is a space where you can feel safe, respected, and met without judgement.

We may explore experiences such as bereavement, including support for children and young people, as well as the realities of living with or alongside autism and ADHD. We can also make space for things like anxiety, low mood, feeling overwhelmed, relationship difficulties, identity, or times in life where things feel uncertain or hard to make sense of.

These experiences can bring unique challenges, and we can take time to understand what they mean for you.

At the heart of this work is a belief that you are the expert in your own experience - and that therapy can be a space that feels safe, respectful, and responsive to you.

Walk and Talk

These sessions provide the same supportive, confidential and person-centred approach as room-based counselling, but in a natural outdoor setting.

Venues

The therapeutic space on the outskirts of Hayle is a quiet, self-contained cabin at the bottom of a rural garden on the outskirts of Hayle. Set slightly apart from everyday life, it offers a calm, private environment where you can pause, reflect, and be heard. The space is intentionally simple and soothing, designed to help you feel safe, settled, and at ease. This venue has off road parking but is not suitable for those with physical accessibility needs due to the nature of the terrain and the parking area.

The therapy room at Camborne Community Centre is a dedicated space for Adults, children and young people. It is thoughtfully set up with creative materials, toys, and play equipment to support expression in ways that feel natural and age-appropriate. The environment is calm, safe, and welcoming, allowing Adults, children and young people to engage at their own pace. The venue is fully accessible with free parking and is in the Centre of Camborne town.

Walk and Talk therapy

For some people, being outside can feel more relaxed and less formal than sitting in a therapy room, and the gentle movement of walking can help thoughts and feelings flow more naturally.
